12 Cool Crisp Whites with a free Chandon
Sparkling Rose for just $164.95

cool, crisp whites at the beginning of Winter, but we reckon that lovers of this

blog now
So in this pack we have selected 12 of the most
refreshing and youthful value white wines we could find, spanning everything
from Sauvignon Blanc to Pinot Grigio, topped off with a free bottle of Chandon
Sparkling Rose NV.
Total pack value = $242.80
This
pack contains 2 of each of the following wines:
Peter Howland
'Suitcase' Sauvignon Blanc 2009 (Marlborough, NZ)
A crisp herbaceous
Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc with bright gooseberry aromatics and a lightly
tropical palate. Easy drinking
Marlborough Savvy.
Tyrrells Old Winery Pinot Grigio
2009 (NSW)
Pinot Grigio is the
Italian name given to Pinot Gris. It is typically found in Northern Eastern
Italy, notably from Veneto and right up the the German border in Alto Adige.
Pinot Grigio is typically produced as a crisp, dry and refreshing white wine
made for immediate consumption.
This Tyrrells
example is no different, having been picked early and then fermented with
aromatic yeasts to make a light, dry and neutral, food friendly dry
wine.
'At last!
Someone is handling pinot gris skilfully and not asking much money for it. This
example is fresh, dry, pear-like and only a little phenolic. Good drinking
now.' Winewise, 2010
Scotchmans Hill Swan Bay Semillon Sauvignon
Blanc 2009 (Multi Regional Blend)
Sourced from a
combination of Adelaide Hills, Geelong and Mornington Peninsula fruit. This is
lightly grassy with some tropical fruit overtones, all making for a crisp, yet
suitably generous style that is immensely appealing.
Drink well chilled
with Chilli Mud Crab
Cuttaway Hill Sauvignon Blanc 2010 (Southern Highlands,
NSW)
A 2010 vintage wine, already! This is the first of the
10's to cross the Winemakers Choice tasting bench and it is looking absolutely
delicious, absolutely bursting out of the glass with fresh snappy green bean and
lemongrass fruit on a razor sharp, super dry palate.
Can't reinforce
enough just how fresh and delicious this is.
Clairault Semillon Sauvignon Blanc 2009 (Margaret River,
WA)
1 Gold - 2010 International Wine
Challenge
'Love the vibrant crunchy mouth feel in this
excellent blended white. The lemon zip of the Semillon threads in with the
herbaceous tropical notes of the Sauvignon Blanc. Has a fine lip-smacking
acidity that keeps that tightly wound palate to a long finish. A beauty. Cellar
4 years.' 92/100 Ray Jordans 2010 Wine
Guide
Eyre Creek Riesling 2009 (Clare Valley,
SA)
Produced from the
famous Attunga dry land vineyard located just north of the township of Auburn in
the Clare Valley. The vineyard itself dates back to 1865.
This wine displays
all the wonderful characteristics of classic Clare Valley Riesling - pungent
lime aromatics over an intensely dry and very long palate. A top Riesling from a
good vintage.
With a bonus bottle of:
Chandon Sparkling Rose NV
(Victoria)
Chandon NV Rosé is a
fresh, vibrant and exuberant sparkling rosé crafted in the traditional method.
Enticing and distinctive, its rose gold colour embodies the vivacious spirit of
rosé. Delicious red berry and vanilla flavours and a bright, crisp finish, make
this fine aperitif style wine a perfect starter for an evening with friends and
loved ones.
Notes from Domaine Chandon
'Bright
pink; fragrant red fruit aromas and flavours; very good, supple mouthfeel, yet
not sweet; has admirable length.' 94/100 James Halliday
