Bronze Medals
'For a wine selling around the $10
mark this offers plenty. Lots of savoury black pepper and plummy licorice
characters. There's typical earthiness with some subtle oak. All round it's
subtle and generous with impressive medium weight flavour.'

Zilzie Estate S23 Cabernet Merlot 2009 (Murray
Darling and Swan Hill)
From a somewhat cooler vintage than
the Shiraz this was picked later and exclusively from Victorian fruit, the final
blend made up of 60% Cabernet and 40% Merlot.
It's a fuller, firmer wine
than the Shiraz, dominated by all dark berries and plums, with vanillan oak in
background support. On the palate it is similarly dark fruit flavoured, with
spicy mulberry characters and a soft
finish.
Zilzie Estate S23 Merlot 2009 (Karadoc,
Vic)
A lovely polished red this fits the bill of what
everyone expects a Merlot to be - generous, plush and rounded, with toasty oak
& rich plum fruit. Perfect BBQ
red.
Zilzie
S23 Sauvignon Blanc 2010 (Karadoc,
Vic)
'This slightly
fizzy white is all about grapy, sherbet sweetness. It's an instant friend and a
few glasses goes a long way. The low ABV makes it a great Champagne breakfast
alternative.'
Ben Canaider, Virgin
Voyeur.
Zilzie
S23 Chardonnay 2009 (Karadoc, Vic)

'This is a
creamy, fresh, melon flavoured Chardonnay with stacks of flavour. It's a simple
fruit-driven style and ideal for summer drinking.

Grant Burge Filsell Shiraz
2008 (Barossa, SA)
“Grant Burge Filsell performs
consistently well in our Australian Shiraz tastings. It's a lovely ripe style,
just made for roast meats. Appealing aromas of spice, boysenberry and plum
introduce an intense, full-bodied palate. The wine shows some alcoholic warmth
but it's not out of context. ”
Ralph Kyte-Powell, 5 stars
(outstanding) , Cuisine Magazine NZ, July 2010
“Filsell shows thepower and body of the hot vintage,
with generous, deep, chocolatey fruit flavours - coated lavishly with the
Barossa's tender, soft tannins.”
Chris Shanahan, The Canberra
