Willi Schaefer Graacher Domprobst Kabinett Riesling 2008 – Mosel, Germany
The brilliant bouquet offers up a crystalline mélange of lime, yellow plum, apple, a glorious base of slate, petrol, lime oil and citrus zest in the upper register. On the palate the wine is medium-bodied, deep and very intensely flavoured, with great focus and balance, stunning purity and an utterly refined and still quite reserved finish of magical length and grip. As good as the first two kabinett bottlings are this is a notable step up in quality. Brilliant.
